Explore the Vision

The Approach

To inspire and encourage everyone who lives and works in urban areas to play a part in improving them. There are many challenges to overcome, but when people work together to change things we can lead happier, healthier and safer lives, nature benefits, and we can leave a better world for tomorrow's generations.

Using the SDGs

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 interlinked global objectives - a "call for action" in a global partnership.

The SDGs are monitored at a national and international level. A draft set of SDG urban indicators has been created as an idea to measure our progress towa improving urban areas...

Changing Places

Cities and towns are a hive of constantly changing individuals, families, communities, businesses and other groups. Some are working towards their goals. The less fortunate are simply trying to survive.

This portal discusses aspects such as:

1. Governance - is urban planning working, and if not, what needs to change?

2. Ecology - how do we get the balance right?

4. Physical structures - can we reduce carbon emissions from buildings and infrastructure?

5. Socio-economics - how can citizens and businesses be meaningfully engaged and listened to?
